Leko Motif – The Sacred Heirloom Dagger

The Leko motif is one of the distinctive motifs of Masalili Weaving, inspired by the form of the keris pusaka, a sacred heirloom dagger that holds deep historical and spiritual significance in Indonesian culture. In Masalili weaving, the motif is expressed through geometric patterns resembling the curves and blade of a keris, combined with harmonious lines that create a sense of strength, elegance, and dignity.

The Leko motif (Keris Pusaka) symbolizes courage, honor, wisdom, and steadfastness in upholding the values of life. Through this motif, the Masalili community conveys a meaningful message: every individual should have the courage to face challenges, uphold honesty and dignity, and act wisely in making decisions. Just as a sacred heirloom keris is carefully preserved and passed down with profound respect, the noble values embedded in cultural heritage should likewise be preserved and passed on as a guiding principle for future generations.
