Batik Kebon Indah
Textiles
Jawa Tengah
Batik Kebon Indah is a cooperative of women artisans from Desa Kebon, Bayat, Klaten, producing hand-drawn (tulis) and stamped (cap) batik using natural dyes. What began as a group of low-paid batik laborers that collapsed after the devastating 2006 earthquake, transformed into an independent, women-led business now home to around 180 members. Known for its strong, distinctive natural dye colors such as indigo, tingi, jolawe, and mahogany, Batik Kebon Indah has grown from a local recovery effort into a brand recognized internationally, with its batik now reaching markets in the United States and Europe.
